After the Spanish Civil War he moved to the United States and opened Town Planning Associates with Paul Lester Wiener and Paul Schulz. He taught at many universities, including Harvard, where he served as dean of the School of Design. He returned to Spain, where he died in 1983. J. Ll. Sert designed many great buildings worldwide, including the Miró Foundation in Barcelona, the Holyoke Center in Boston, and the Science Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
