Through many hitherto unseen images the story of Berlin in the 20th century is told. Documenting the changes in the city from the viewpoint of the activities of its citizens - at work, leisure, protest and politics, or in the home, this book provides a portrait of a city which is again in the process of reinventing itself. A timely reminder of the upheavals, tragedies, and triumphs of the Berlin century, this volume charts the experiences of Berliners from the heyday of pre-war Berlin, through the rise and fall of the Third Reich, post-war structures, and the building and destruction of the Wall.
