Fruits of the Brazilian Amazon is Silvestre Silva´s twelfth book as a photographer, and now he has authored this magnificently illustrated work (with over 350 pictures), the result of some 40 years of research and travel throughout Brazil. Originally from the state of Minas Gerais, Silvestre Silva, the journalist, has been a reporter-photographer since the mid-1970s. In the early years of his career, in São Paulo, he worked for some of the major news publications in Brazil. Since 1980 he has been working on several research and photographic documentation projects in the area of botany all over Brazil. Today his photographs can be seen in a variety of over 4,000 publications, many of which are relevant to scientific studies worldwide. Here, Silvestre Silva brings us a nicely orchestrated combination of text and photographs that have never been published. He creates a succinct, correct and pleasing account the delicious world of over 100 of the most important fruits in the Brazilian Amazon - the result of a life dedicated to the valorization and revelation of the fruits from the greatest forest on Earth.
