The collection, composed of four titles, structures the study of artistic painting around the fundamental elements of pictorial language: form, color, space and stroke. It is based on a modern teaching method that stimulates active participation, experiment and the quest for new results, giving the reader the leading, active role in this pictorial work. Understanding and mastering color is an indispensable skill for creating artworks in oil, watercolor, tempera, gouache, pastels, and other color media. This book analyzes all aspects and uses of color in art, demonstrating in clear illustrations the fundamental principles underlying effective uses of color. Examples include works by famous artists, among them, Degas, van Gogh, Picasso, Delaunay, Ernst, Rothko, and many others. The four titles in the collection have the same structure: after an initial explanatory chapter of the pertinent aspect of pictorial language, fifteen creative proposals are considered, grouped around five pictorial themes: Nature study, Still life, Landscape, Figure study and Abstraction.
