- Description: This well written, thoughtfully organized, comprehensive text on pediatric neurosurgery is excellently illustrated with surgical approaches and enhanced with pitfalls to avoid and pearls to learn. The 4th edition is almost an entirely new book when compared to the previous edition published in 1994.

- Purpose: The book meets well the author's objectives of providing complete coverage of pediatric neurosurgical practices. The contributing authors are acknowledged experts in their field.

- Audience: It is recommended for practicing neurosurgeons and neurologists, residents, pediatricians, and medical and nursing students.

- Features: Sections address developmenatal anomalies of the brain, molecular biology of neural development, cranial and spinal anomalies, hydrocephalus, neurotrauma, neoplasms, CNS infections, vascular disorders, interventional neuroradiological procedures, and fetal surgery. The color diagrams are simple, detailed, and excellent.

- Assessment: This is one of the most up-to-date references in pediatric neurosurgery; it is well edited with in-depth and commprehensive coverage that includes recent advances in interventional neuroradiology and image guided surgery. I strongly recommend acquring this new edition to replace the third edition.
