TOWARD NEW INTERIOR - AN ANTHOLOGY OF INTERIOR DESIGN

This book is a reader for architects and interior design students. By looking at interiors through scaled layers that start at the body and end at the city, a broader set of issues is elicited. Viewing the interior through this layered lens directs this collection of essays and seeks to transform history into theory by unraveling each layer. When viewing each chapter where each layer is dissected, a richer story unfolds. In the chapter on Clothing + Identity, essays reinforce the relationship between clothing and interiors through a shared language of architecture and clothing construction terms and techniques. Additional essays unravel a dialogue between filmmaker Wim Wenders and clothing designer Yohji Yamamoto in their discussion of craft, mass production, identity, and fashion.
